Finally.. Semester 3 is coming up. I'm going for my first practical. Me and Faeez apply for Shangri-la hotel. In our intake, it's just the 2 of us apply for the same hotel. AND guess what, we got it. Shangri-la is ready to take us in for our first practical. Now it's up to us to make sure our results for this semester is good enough to go for practical. If not, guess we'll be staying at college for awhile. Wish me luck. hahaha..

D Day
Saturday. 20th February 2010. 8am.
Asian Cuisine Final Exam.
It was the day of my final cooking exam for this semester. Damn scared wei..
The dishes to cook were Nasi Minyak, Kari Daging, Fishball Soup and Lemon Chicken.
As usual, at 8am we entered the kitchen. Prepared all the knives, chopping board, plates, bowls and etc. I get all the ingredients for the food. First, me and my partner, Achik did the mise en place. Starting off at 8.50am, I started cooking the nasi minyak. Let it rest awhile. Next, Achik cooked the kari daging. We both left the 2 food to be cooked for awhile. Next, my part of the cooking was the fishball soup. Instead of getting a fish fillet, we were given a whole fish. I seriously don't know how to cut the fish and get it's fillet. haha.. I asked Achik to cut it for me. (I didn't know how because I never done it before, and I missed last semester's Larder and Production regarding fish's topic)
As I were cutting some carrots for the fishball soup, I saw the fish's scale flew everywhere around me. I seriously laughed because Achik was the one behind the scale attack. haha. Then I cook the fishball and Achik made the lemon chicken. The lemon sauce was a bit dry, I told Achik to add some water but he added just 2 drops of it. I didn't realized it a first. So it was ok. Lastly, the plating and evaluation part. All of our dishes were prepared, now it's just the cleaning part. Then Chef Adly and Chef Haizura called our names. It was our turn. I'm so damn scared of the outcome of what they're gonna say about the foods.
Chef Adly and Chef Haizura tastes all the food and asked us to evaluate our own food. So I was given the first shot to taste the nasi minyak, kari daging and fishball soup. The nasi minyak is a bit tawar due to lack of seasoning. That was my fault. haha.. Then the fishball is quite nice. Fuuh, lega sikit. Chef Adly said "kari daging korang nampak macam agar2. We both laughed but it was quite true, the kari was dry. Chef Haizura on the other hand, supported our kari daging a bit, she said "kalau makan dengan roti jala okay tapi dengan nasi memang tak sesuai". Chef Adly agreed. Last but not least, our lemon chicken. Chef Adly said "lemon sauce korang pekat macam pengat". Again, we all laughed but it was quite true. Achik forgot to add some more water to the sauce. Made it a little bit thicker than it was supposed to be. hahaha.. So there goes our evaluation. Everything was okay except for the nasi minyak but total was okay.
Lega that part was over. We all cleaned the kitchen and went lepak to Singgahan Rasa with all the Gang. Where we all laughed and melatahkan Faeez, Rosz, Yus and Adnan. hahaha.. Then, Me and Faeez sent Rosz and Wan Puaka back home. So Faeez sent me home. From there on, I was too tired to take a shower and slept until the next day. haha..
